The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking experienced law enforcement professionals for the position of Administrative Investigations Specialist. In this role, the Administrative Investigations Specialist will support the Village of Arlington Heights Police Department with a wide range of administrative duties and play a crucial role in supporting Police Department operations.
The Administrative Investigations Specialist will conduct Village and Police Department background investigations, including comprehensive background screening of prospective full-time, part-time, intern, volunteer and license applicants. The position will utilize a wide-range of law enforcement systems and databases to ensure candidates meet rigorous hiring standards and criteria. The Administrative Investigations Specialist will further support operations by assisting with the onboarding of new hires, recruitment activities, processing training, and in accurate documentation and record keeping. The position will also support the processing and redaction of employment and audio/video recording requests pursuant to civil, criminal and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and with other various special administrative projects as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have an Associate degree, or two years of college coursework. A Bachelor’s degree in a law enforcement related field is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have prior sworn law enforcement experience, including with investigations, accreditation, and recruitment processes. Police supervisory experience is strongly preferred, but not required. As the Administrative Investigations Specialist will work closely with applicants, police management, and department leadership, strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role.
The salary range for this position is $79,796–$107,725, with an anticipated hiring range of $79,796 –$82,003, depending on qualifications and experience. The Administrative Investigations Specialist will be primarily be assigned to normal business hours, generally Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., for a total of 37.5 hours a week. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
